This dataset contains well locations and other information for the groundwater-monitoring wells associated with Illinois coal mining permits. Well locations are derived from engineering scale paper maps received from coal mine operators. The Illinois State Water Survey did much of the early digitizing work for this dataset, and the Land Reclamation Division of the Office of Mines and Minerals continues to update it as new wells are completed. Attributes for each well include mining unit, permit number, pit name, and well ID code. |
